Fat—Adding It To or Taking It Away From The Face
With the addition of Dr. Anthony Bared to the practice, a new scope of procedures are now provided to patients involving the management of facial fat. While usually considered “bad” or unaesthetic, fat in fact is a major component of a healthy youthful appearing face, and loss of it can produce an aging appearance in certain individuals. For these individuals, fat transfer, where fat is taken from another part of the body i.e. hips or belly through modern liposuction techniques, processed then injected into key areas of the face to restore a more youthful, volumized look is an excellent option. Dr. Bared brings his knowledge about this procedure to the practice. Fat however, when below the jawline, or in the cheek/perioral region, can create a less than ideal fuller facial appearance. Procedures to remove part or most of this extra fat includes liposculpting for under the chin, as well as the buccal fat removal procedure, a particular favorite procedure of Dr. Epstein.
Several alternatives to using fat for volumizing are available, and include Sculptra® and Radiesse®, that are offered by the practice as well.
