Question:
I would like to get laser hair removal on a couple of my body parts and my upper lip. I have heard varying things about whether or not the results are actually permanent. One of my friends say they are after several treatments and another said no they are not permanent. Can you clear this up for me?
Answer:
Laser hair removal is an excellent procedure, especially for people who have visible hair problems. The reason it is an excellent procedure is it does not traumatize the skin and, after a number of treatments and depending upon the area, can if not permanently remove the hair cause it to stay away for a significant length of time. Usually on the upper lip, after three or four treatments, the hair thins out, the follicles begin to die and the patient finds that they have very little re-growth of hair. Depending upon the area, the treatments are sometimes permanent but it always takes an extended number of treatments, usually in the area of four to eight depending upon the area, before it may seem to be permanent.
