Question:
My jowls are horrible, sagging and very prominent. Is a facelift the best procedure to treat this and how is it done?
Answer:
Jowls can be a difficult problem to treat, even with a good facelift. However, a good facelift with some SMAS elevation and occasionally some minor laser in this area is the procedure of choice to deal with sagging in this area. The facelift will lift the tissues appropriately as far as the outer skin and other tissues are concerned, and working on the SMAS will lift the supporting underlying tissues back into place that help take the pressure off the skin and make the facelift look natural and long lasting.
