What are "gummy bear" breast implants"? Are silicone implants better than other implants?
Answer:
The latest generation silicone implants that I use are all "cohesive gel" implants. Some people call these "gummi bear"implants. Others reserve that description for the next generation of implants which are "form stable" antomical or tear drop implants. These are not yet FDA approved and are only used by investigators in clinical trials.
It is uncertain when the new implants will be available. They will not be the best option for many patients. The present gel implants are excellent and may be better for many unless they are insistent on having an anatomical implant.
